Landstar System Inc, the Jacksonville FL-based transportation capacity provider, has once again been named to InformationWeek magazine's annual list of America's most innovative information technology users. Landstar ranked 298 in this year's list of the publication's “500 Leading Innovative Companies.” It is the fourth time Landstar has been recognized.
Landstar's 7,400-plus business capacity owners (BCOs) supply the company with equipment used to haul freight. Along with a nationwide network of nearly 1,000 independent sales agents, they use the company's Intranet web site to choose freight, perform administrative functions, and make other business decisions. Landstar provides access to the company's Intranet via wireless web-enabled cell phones and other hand-held devices.
Results of the annual survey are published in InformationWeek's September issue and posted on the web at www.informationweek.com.
