McLeod Software announces its 25th year of providing software systems to the trucking industry. Over the past 25 years, McLeod Software has grown into one of the nation’s leading transportation management software companies and provider of document imaging and management software to the transportation industry.
In 1985, Tom McLeod, company founder, president, and chief executive officer, sold and programmed the initial version of his dispatch and accounting package for a handful of trucking and brokerage companies. Today, McLeod Software serves hundreds of truckload and brokerage firms across the country from two corporate locations, one in Birmingham AL and another in Salt Lake City UT.
“As we reach this milestone,” said McLeod, “I think about the ‘Four Rules of Business’ that I developed over time, that have helped to drive the company to where it is today: spend less than you take in, do what you say you are going to do, know what you are doing, and treat everyone with dignity and respect.”
Over the years, the company has continued to meet the changing needs of its customers. Now, with more than 150 software professionals employed, McLeod’s fully integrated enterprise software systems include LoadMaster, its flagship system for truckload carriers; PowerBroker, its state-of-the-art brokerage product; DocumentPower Enterprise, a collection of document imaging and management tools for transportation companies; and HirePower, its driver recruiting and hiring efficiency system.
Most recently, McLeod entered the Freight Management/3PL market with its new iLENS product line, offering freight procurement, load execution, and spot market services. In response to credit markets tightening, McLeod in 2009 began providing its customers bank rate financing through a new McLeod Financial Solutions division.
The 25th-anniversary celebration will culminate with the annual Users’ Conference, set for September 13-14, 2010, at the Sheraton-Birmingham (AL) Convention Center.
