Per Carlsson has been appointed new president and chief executive officer of Volvo Trucks North America Division. Presently responsible for Volvo Powertrain Sweden, he will begin his new position Jan 1, 2008, and will succeed Peter Karlsten. Starting December 1, Karlsten will become president and CEO of Volvo Powertrain. He will also serve as senior vice-president-technology for the Volvo Group and as a new member of the Group Executive Committee. Lars Thoren, currently chief financial officer, will become acting president of Volvo Trucks North America.
Doug Dorn will become director-OEM sales in Europe for the Powered Vehicle Systems business unit of SAF-Holland Inc. He most recently held the position of manager-truck OEM business development. Frank Puciul has been named OEM account manager-powered vehicle systems, responsible for the Paccar group including Kenworth Truck Co and Peterbilt Motors. A SAF Holland employee since 1990, he has served as a national accounts manager since 2000.
Takao Oishi has assumed the new title of Yokohama Tire Corp (YTC) executive vice-president of operations and will be based in the United States. He spent the past two years as president of Yokohama Europe and lived in Düsseldorf, Germany. Kenichi Shirai was named YTC chief advisor-strategic marketing. He has a mix of marketing and engineering backgrounds and also will be US-based. Iwao “Rocky” Shimomura was named YTC senior director-corporate quality assurance. This will be his second US stint; he worked in YTC's Salem VA plant from 1991-94 as manager of tire development. Satoshi Miyata was promoted to YTC chief fincncial officer and treasurer. He previously held the position of treasurer and has been at Yokohama-Fullerton for more than four years.
John M Boler, president, chief executive officer, and chairman of The Boler Co, announced that, effective immediately, Matthew J Boler is succeeding him as president and CEO of The Boler Co. Gary E Gerstenslager has been promoted to president and CEO of Hendrickson. Previously he held the position of president and chief operating officer of Hendrickson. Matthew Boler previously was vice president of corporate development and earlier served as the general manager of Hendrickson Bumper and Trim.
David B Templeton recently assumed duties as vice-president of human resources (HR) for Hendrickson. He most recently served in a dual role leading Hendrickson's HR functions companywide and also serving as director of HR for Hendrickson Trailer Suspension Systems in Canton OH. David Decker has joined the organization, succeeding Templeton at Hendrickson Trailer. He comes to the firm from Kennametal Inc, where he served as director of HR.
Aleco has appointed Ronnie Driggers industrial sales manager. Driggers brings more than 18 years of industrial manufacturing sales experience and worked exclusively in the door industry for the past eight years.
Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC has appointed Rick Nork as its vice-president and chief financial officer. Eddie Wilkinson has been promoted to vice-president of quality and product safety. Nork, who held the CFO post on an interim basis for the past four months, came to Bendix after 12 years with Robert Bosch Corp/AlliedSignal Braking Systems Americas, where he was CFO and executive vice-president of finance, controlling, and administration. Wilkinson previously served as operations director at Bendix since 2006. Al Rollison has been promoted to national account manager. With more than 14 years of sales management and marketing experience in the commercial vehicle industry, he previously was an aftermarket account manager in Florida working in the southeast region.
VT Specialized Vehicles Corp Inc (VT SVC), a company of Vision Technologies Systems Inc (VT Systems), has named Tracey Maynor senior vice-president, sales and operations. Maynor previously was vice-president of sales and operations for a large national manufacturer of dry freight and refrigerated van trailers.
Penske Logistics has named Etienne Visser vice-president-global transportation management, a newly created position. He is based in Penske's European headquarters in Roosendaal, Netherlands. Edward Kitt was appointed vice-president-distribution center management, responsible for development and growth of Penske's distribution and warehousing services and products. Kitt is based in Benton Harbor MI.
Itochu Europe PLC, the global sales agent for Daikin, has named Philip Eastell sales manager for Itochu's London office, which manages Europe, North and South America, South Africa, and the Middle East. He has more than 25 years' experience in the maritime industry working for leasing companies and liner operators in operations and general management. Robert Ferreyra has been named sales manager-South America. He has spent more than 15 years in the maritime container industry, working for Asian and European container lines and their local agents in operations, M&R, and customer service.
