ARB verifies Dinex DiSiC diesel particulate filter

The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has verified the Dinex DiSiC (Level 3 Plus) diesel particulate filter for use on most trailer Transport Refrigeration Units (TRUs) using 1999–2005 model year engines.

ARB has verified the Dinex DiSiC (Level 3 Plus) diesel particulate filter, which can be used to comply with the Low-Emission TRU (LETRU) and Ultra-Low Emission TRU (ULETRU) in-use performance standards on most trailer TRUs using 1999–2005 model year engines. Compliance information related to the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure is available at www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/tru.htm.

The Dinex DiSiC consists of a catalyzed silicon carbide filter substrate in a filter assembly module, inlet, outlet, exhaust tubes, flexible parts, mounting brackets, and insulation. An electronic monitoring system measures and logs exhaust temperature, back pressure, and alarms. The warning system includes a series of LED lights to provide back-pressure warning for filter cleaning.

TRU owners should read about the specific conditions for which the DiSiC has been approved in the Executive Order (EO) posted on ARB’s Verification Procedure–Level 3 webpage at www.arb.ca.gov/diesel/verdev/level3/level3.htm. Specific engine models and families that apply are listed in the EO’s attachment, also listed on that webpage.
