FDA releases Small Entity Compliance Guide for FSMA rule

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced the availability of a Small Entity Compliance Guide (SECG) to help small businesses understand requirements of the Final Rule on the Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food (Sanitary Transportation Rule).

Small businesses have until April 6, 2018, to comply with this rule, which is part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

In the guide, shippers, loaders, carriers and receivers covered by the Sanitary Transportation Rule will find descriptions of the rule requirements in an easy-to-read, question-and-answer format that includes information on topics such as training and recordkeeping. FDA welcomes comments on this SECG. More information on how to comment can be found at www.regulations.gov/.
