Ad revives 60-year-old pledge

American Trucking Associations has renewed the industry's pledge to help keep America safe with a one-day national advertising campaign featuring a reprint of a post-Pearl Harbor ad that ATA ran nationally 60 years ago.

The original ad from 1942 features a truck driver under the headline “They'll Never Bomb Us Out,” pledging “trucks will always get through!”

In the 2002 ad, ATA Chairman David G McCorkle and President and Chief Executive Officer William J Canary issue “A Continued Promise for a Safer America” and give their word that “the men and women of America's trucking industry pledge to do their part to keep America safe and secure for all.” The ad will run in USA Today, the Washington Post, Roll Call, and the Washington, DC-metro edition of Newsweek magazine.
