Dana's CEO succumbs to pancreatitis at 61

Joseph M Magliochetti, president, chairman, and chief executive officer of Dana Corp, died September 22 after a short bout with pancreatitis. The company said Magliochetti, 61, had been hospitalized since September 11, when he had a gallstone removed.

Magliochetti was named president and CEO of Dana in 1999, and became the company's chairman the next year. He began his career in 1966 with Victor Manufacturing Co of Chicago IL, and stayed with the company when Dana purchased it a year later.

Chris Bates, Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) president and CEO, called Magliochetti "a driving force in the advancement of the motor vehicle products industry. His many contributions to industry education, to improved industry management practices, and to enhancement of our industry's positive role in society were remarkable." Magliochetti was MEMA chairman in 2000 and 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; three children; and one grandchild.
