Distinguished Woman in Logistics award created

The Women In Trucking (WIT) association announced the creation of the Distinguished Woman in Logistics award, sponsored by transportation software provider TMW Systems. Established to promote accomplishments of women employed in the trucking industry, the association has expanded its recognition program to highlight leaders in logistics.
WIT was established in 2007 by Ellen Voie, a trucking industry veteran with a passion to expand and promote opportunities for women both as drivers and business people within the transportation services field. Building on the success of its Influential Woman in Trucking award program sponsored for the past four years by Navistar International Corporation, and its annual “Salute to Women Behind the Wheel,” WIT joined with TMW Systems to promote and sponsor the new recognition program.
The award program was officially launched during the “Women in Logistics” session at the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) “Great Ideas” Conference & Exposition in Tucson AZ recently. Candidacy guidelines, nomination procedures, and forms for the first annual Distinguished Woman in Logistics award can be found at www.TMWSystems.com/LogisticsWomanAward. Nominations may be submitted up until October 31, 2014.
These nominations will be judged and a winner selected by a panel consisting of logistics and transportation media, logistics service providers, and trade association leadership.
The first annual Distinguished Woman in Logistics award will be presented during the 2015 TIA Conference & Exposition.
