Sanitary Cold Chain offers training courses

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently released proposed sanitary food transportation rules.  These rules were established under the Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA) and impact all carriers, shippers, and receivers of transported foods.
In preparation for changes impacting food transportation operations, the FDA has outlined training needed by carriers as they respond to new shipper/carrier contract requirements:
•Preparing the Transportation Operation Food Safety Plan
•Internal Food Safety Leadership and Team Training
•Shipper-Carrier Contracts of Carriage
•Basic Sanitary Practices
•Food Safety and Security
•Trailer and vehicle sanitation
•Temperature Control Monitoring
•Sanitary Food Handling Operations
•Record Keeping
•Food Safety
•Employee and Driver Training
The Sanitary Cold Chain has a number of these courses ready for use. Courses are offered online and can be completed on the trainee’s schedule.
The FDA will continue to establish transportation operation training needs over the next several years. The Sanitary Cold Chain is seeking companies interested in providing sponsorship support for refrigerated carrier training. It intends to establish a complete curriculum that serves carrier training needs under the name of the TransCert University.
In exchange for sponsorship support, sponsor logos will be displayed on university materials, and silver sponsors ($2,500) will receive a 25% discount for all delivered training for a period of one year. Any gold sponsor ($5,000) employee or driver from a company will be eligible to receive this training and will be awarded a completion certificate if courses are completed within a two-year period. Gold sponsors also receive a 25% reduction in the cost of the first annual certification audit.
