Morgan Truck Body expands footprint, plans to build Connecticut plant

Morgan Truck Body, North America’s largest manufacturer of medium-duty truck bodies, is expanding its footprint into New England with a new manufacturing facility planned for Plainfield CT.

The new facility will be located at 85 Moosup Pond Road, an hour east of Hartford.

“As Morgan continues to set revenue records, the need to increase capacity, as well as locate production closer to our customers, is an important part of improving customer service,” said Paul Jarossy, Morgan’s director of marketing and new business development.

Equipment move-in is expected to start this summer in anticipation of full operations in fourth quarter 2018.

The plant will support the combined production of up to 3,000 reefer and dry freight truck bodies annually. It will encompass more than 175,000 square feet and provide work for approximately 140 employees.

“We’re excited for the opportunity and value this plant will offer our New England-area customers,” said Robert Baycroft, operations director for the New England plant. “We’re recruiting the best talent to assure that delivering Morgan’s industry-leading quality products and service will always be our top priority.”

The Plainfield location will be Morgan’s 13th in the United States and Canada, with plans for a 14th facility in the Midwest in the “near future.”
