McLane will supply Sonic food distribution services

Sonic Drive-In Restaurants has chosen McLane Foodservice, a division of McLane Company Inc, to supply food distribution services.

McLane is providing Sonic comprehensive supply chain services, including logistics, procurement, and inventory management systems. The transition began with first deliveries August 16, 2010 and will continue roll-out in the Midwest through August.

Drew Ritger, senior vice-president of franchise development and distribution for Sonic, said, “McLane’s track record of operational excellence and supply chain efficiency make them an ideal distribution partner for Sonic, and we look forward to working together with such an established leader in the foodservice industry.”

McLane provides grocery and foodservice supply chain systems for thousands of convenience stores, mass merchants, drug stores, and military locations, as well as thousands of chain restaurants throughout the United States. With 38 distribution centers and one of the nation’s largest private fleets, the company delivers more than 10 billion pounds of merchandise to every US state and county. The company also provides logistics services in Brazil and exports to more than 25 nations. McLane is a wholly owned unit of Berkshire Hathaway Inc (NYSE: BRK) and employs 15,000 people globally.
