Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY) has acquired Lincoln Poultry & Egg Company, a broadline foodservice distributor based in Lincoln NE. The acquisition took effect July 12, 2010. Lincoln Poultry’s management team and employees will become employees of Sysco.
“Lincoln Poultry’s high-quality operation and deep customer relationships represent an excellent growth opportunity for Sysco,” said Mike Green, Sysco’s executive vice-president, foodservice operations.
Lincoln Poultry, which started as a fresh poultry and egg distribution business in 1957, has successfully grown into a diversified broadline foodservice distributor. The company serves more than 800 customers primarily throughout the central United States.

Based in Houston TX, Sysco sells, markets, and distributes food products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, lodging establishments, and other clients that prepare meals away from home. Its family of products also includes equipment and supplies for the foodservice and hospitality industries. The company operates 186 distribution facilities serving approximately 400,000 customers. For the fiscal year 2009 that ended June 27, 2009, the company generated more than $36 billion in sales.
