Did you order compliance technology for your model year 2010 transport refrigeration unit (TRU) engine by the purchase order deadline, but delivery or installation will be delayed so compliance by December 31, 2017 is not possible?
If so, your compliance extension application, with attached supporting documentation, must be received by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) by December 31, 2017.
The TRU regulation’s purchase order deadlines are:
•For reefer trailers, TRU unit replacements and TRU engine replacements: August 31—four months ahead of the compliance deadline.
•For verified diesel particulate filter retrofits: October 31—two months ahead of the compliance deadline.
For model year 2010 engines/units, owners must make a good-faith effort to comply by the end of 2017. If in-use compliance cannot be achieved by December 31, 2017, due to delays in delivery or installation, owners may apply for a compliance extension. The compliance extension application, with attached supporting documentation showing the purchase order date was on or before the applicable deadlines, must be received at CARB by December 31, 2017.
